The stationary ring is typically made of silicon carbide, a hard and durable material that can withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments. It is mounted on the pump casing and remains stationary during operation.
The rotating ring, also made of silicon carbide, is attached to the pump shaft and rotates with it. It is in contact with the stationary ring and creates a dynamic seal that prevents fluid from leaking out of the pump.
Between the stationary and rotating rings, there is a bellows element made of a flexible material such as stainless steel. The bellows element provides flexibility to accommodate shaft movement and thermal expansion, ensuring a tight seal between the rings.
